Getting your Sak Yant Tattoo from a Sak Yant Master has never been easier from our In-House Sak Yant Service. The Sak Yant Master Monks and Ajarns in the co-op take turns at coming to us to preform the Sak Yant and Blessing from our own Samnak (Holy Rooms)

Sak Yant Chiang Mai’s In-House service was initially started at the request of the Sak Yant Masters themselves. The Sak Yant Master Monks and Ajarns wanted to ensure the purity and etiquette of the Sak Yant Tattoo experience was preserved. Too often these holy men were being brought people wanting a Sak Yant by opportunistic guides who were more concerned with getting commissions than assisting their guests in the proper Sak Yant procedure.

So they jointly decided, better to create a central venue in Chiang Mai’s old city where they could share together their skills and expertise, rather than rely on guides bringing unprepared customers to their home Samnaks.

At our In-House Sak Yant Service, we provide access to the Best Sak Yant Master in a convenient location in Chiang Mai’s old city in Thailand. Here they work in Air-Conditioned, comfortable rooms maintaining strict hygiene standards, new needles and ink for each guest.

Make a Booking

When you come to our office, either as a result of an online booking or having previously come and made an appointment you will talk with our staff there. The Sak Yant Masters do not speak English well, so our customer service staff will ask you about what your magical intentions are, and show you some designs that you are able to choose from.

They will then go over the etiquette and procedures and take you to our scared Sak Yant room. When there a simple Wai (bow) to the Ajarn and greeting is sufficient

Taking Photos

If you wish to take your own photos (and are alone) you can show our staff how to use your camera. You will be taken and introduced to the Ajarn, who will talk to the staff about your desires and choice of Sak Yant Design. The staff will guide you through the offering process and once the Sak Yant begins they will intermittently return to the room to see how you are doing, take photos, and will come back to help you with the blessing.

Preforming the Wai to the Sak Yant Ajarn

When you greet a our Sak Yant Masters, you “Wai” and keep your body lower, it is polite to be the first to Wai as is a sign of respect to power and expertise of the Ajarn. You will present your small “offering to the spirits” before the Sak Yant ceremony begins. We will provide this offering for you.

First thing you have to do is bow 3 times to respect as Buddhism way;

1 for Buddha
2 for Buddhism
3 for the Ajarn

Giving the Offering to the Ajarn

This offering should be arranged on a tray which is included flowers, incense and a candle and the money offing. We provide the offering as part of our service, the money is from your donation depending on what design you are getting. The Sak Yant Master will have a small accepting ceremony of the offering on behalf of the spirits.

Then after the offering has been accepted the Ajarn will prepare for your tattoo, make a stencil if needed, mixing the ink and sterilizing the needle.

After the Sak Yant and Blessing is Finished.

After the Sak Yant it is completed, the Master will summon our staff who will guide you through the Blessing. You will turn around and again bow 3 times to thank the Sak Yant Master.

Now is time for the blessing. Usually you will take your offering and both you and the Master will hold onto it for a few minutes while the Ajarn recites the blessing incantation. This is the magical part of the Sak Yant experience.

Staff Tip’s

Salaries in Thailand are very low, around US$300 per month, and every person employed in hospitality relies on Tip’s to make up for the low salaries. If you feel like a tip has been earned – the staff appreciate more than you can know

Sak Yant Master Ajarn Sam

Ajarn Sam is originally from Chiang Mai, Thailand. He had participated in a monk program at Dhamma retreat, Mearim, Chiang Mai. After program finished, he went to Ayutthaya and became a monk at Worapho Temple. Then became a monk leader at Chedi Mae Krua Temple and started learning about Sak Yant and Ka-Tha from monks and ajarns. He has started doing Sak Yant since he was seventeen.
